alarm central monitoring robbing me ?
my home burglar alarm central station service is up to $24 per month.
i see many companies offer the same service for $8.95 per mo next alrarm, central station alarm tech @alarm.com or alarm relay. they claim they can change over my system to their service over the phone line. my current provider is a local small alarm company and the central station is not in my geographical area anyway. anyone with expeience in alarms can offer some advise . Can they modify provider over phone line? as they claim Am i paying 3 time the price for monitoring ? or am i missing something. |

No, because robbery is involuntary. If you CHOSE to continue with your current company, then it isn't robbery. Reply to NG only - this e.mail address goes to a kill file. |

Your current price is common. Some companies will just monitor the
alarm system (they don't do anything with the equipment, it's assumed you own or lease it elsewhere) for $9 a month. |

The lower price for monitoring is legitimate in a free market and many
systems can be changed over the phone line. Be sure to read your current contract to cancel the right way. Also, be sure to know who would fix your system if something breaks. By the way, an even cheaper system exists. Just light up the outside of your house at night and post fake alarm system signs you can buy at a store. Burglars will go to your neighbor's dark house with no signs. |
