What's a 'ferrite bead'? I know it has something to do with RF, or blocking
the tranmission of RF, or something. How much do they usually cost?

A ferrite bead is a small cylinder of ferrite material. You slip it over a
wire conductor. Since ferrite has high permeability, it increases the
inductance of the conductor. This is just like an inductor made by
winding a wire around a high permeability material, only in reverse - you
wind the material around the wire. The electrical effect is the same.

The high inductance is used in filtering out high frequency signals you
don't want to pass down the conductor.

Ferrite beads cost pennies.
