Has anyone build David Taits PIC16C5X programmer.

On the schematic, whats PL3 and PL4 used for?

On the schematic, whats PL3 and PL4 used for?


They are used for ISP (In System Programming) of PIC chips in a target
system.
A lead is connected from PL3 to a similar connector in the target system and
a PIC chip in the target system is programmed without having to remove it
and plug it in to the programmer.
