Dead plasma globe - need new power supply

My plasma globe (actually it's a tall red spiral, but same idea) died. It runs for about 2 minutes, then suddenly goes off. The AC wall wart is tested as ok, the DC convertor is tested as ok. But the part that makes the high voltage from the 15V DC is sealed in that wax stuff (for heat dissipation?) so I can't possibly repair it. Where can I get a replacement supply? Or is it easy enough to make one using parts that would cost less than just buying a new globe?
