Electro-mechanical carousel

Hi,

looking for a circuit, possibly based on a 555, that will rotate a
turntable/carousel that will display photographs/items - pause for a
few seconds and rotate to the next photo/item. Part of a school Father
& Son project. Would really appreciate any ideas.

Regards
P

This might seem like overkill but i really believe in these as a
learning process as well as a simple solution to most problems like
this:

http://www.picaxe.co.uk/

Includes basic circuit building and learn to program microprocessors
too, in the easiest possible way.
