Whats a good ic/module for reading temperature? Only parts available in the
uk, please.

that depends on what you want to measure the temperature of :)
there's IC based proobes that are good for room temperature, and weather stations,
and then there's thermocouples for harsher temperatures
and also non-contact probes...
