How do I store tek 222 waveforms to PC?

I have the handheld tektronix 222 digital oscilloscope. It has an RS232
port on the back. I have connected it to my laptop with a null modem
cable and used some National Instruments drivers in LabVIEW but have
had no luck. Is there a setting on the scope I need to set? Do I need
a regular modem cable? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nathan Wilson

Its been a while since I used the Tek222, but I when I connected a PC to
it I used a dumb terminal program (like Hyperterminal etc). The output
from the Tek was in a text format that I captured then analysed using a
spreadsheet.
There are baud rate etc settings in the Tek, some of the buttons on the
top give access to the menu.
You can control the cro from the RS232 port (I think) but I had no need
to do that.
I think you can only send the saved waveforms out the serial port.
The manual for the serial connection was seperate from the main manual,
and quite small and easily misplaced if I recall correctly.
Not sure of the cable that I used, it cannot of been anything too
special as I do not recall having to make a custom one for the job. It
might be worth trying a straight through cable.

Hope this helps.

Andrew

Nathan,

I found some notes I had on the Tek 222 and it's software back from 1991;
maybe this will help you.

Tek did have a software package called CAT200 which would communicate with a
222. Cable used was a DB9M (222) to DB25F (PC) straight through, instead of
a null modem cable. (A more current DB9M to DB9F straight through should
work as well.)

For scope setup with the old CAT200, my notes state the following: Press
AUX FUNC on the top, select Baud from the front panel buttons, and select
2400. (I can't remember much about the scope; it may work at higher speeds
than 2400 baud.)

A quick check over at Tek's download site did turn up some software for the
222:

The Power Scout utility software may be what you are looking for.

Hope this helps.
Bob.
