Sony hmd-a400 hv problem
 

Model is Sony HMD-A400, Ser No. 4027415, mf'd April, 2001.

Unit cuts off, orange light blinks on .5sec, off .5sec. Service
manual says HV, B+, or Hstop problem. Unit cuts off HV when problem
occurs. If cold, can take up to 10 min to shut down. Once warmed up,
shuts down in less than a minute. I was wondering if this unit has
any known problems before I go digging. Checked HV, read 28kV on
probe (probe is homemade and not calibrated, I only use it as a
reference, the voltage could very well be within spec of 26.9kV). Any
ideas before I tear into it?

I have the same *exact* problem with my Sony A400...Sony wants $280 flat fee
plus $hipping (arrrggghh) to fix.

If you find out what is wrong with yours, please tell me; I'm
hoping with such information I could find a tech here in Atlanta to look at
mine.
