Default Archos Jukebox Studio 20 not charging.

Hi All,

I managed to repair my mates old mp3 player and bought it off him for
my daughter.

He couldn't find the PSU so I setup and tested one of those voltage
and polarity setable jobbys.

I plugged it all in and it said 'Charging' then some time later 'Done'
;-)

So, I then gave it to my daughter to test and a couple of days later
she tells me that 'it's not charging' ;-(

I checked it out and she was correct. I then checked the polarity if
the DC plug .. ;-(

It all still works ok just we have to remove the 4 x AA cells to
charge them up externally.

So, today I stripped it down again (you have to de-solder quite a lot
to do that) and tried to follow the PSU voltage through but the
multi-layered board and tightly packed SM components didn't help?

So, without the schematics I see my optopns as follows:

1) Leave it as is (but it's akward getting the batteries in / out for
charging) zero cost.

2) Modify the unit to accept an external charger.
pretty cheap

3) Send it away to be fixed (where, do Archos fix stuff) price?

Any thoughts please folks?

All the best ..

T i m (in the UK)

p.s. I've email Archos UK with repair costs / possibilities.
