Toshiba TN50x81 parts
Had a tech come by a few months ago and he said my set needed a new Digital
Control Module and a Convergence Output IC. Well, it's been over 4 months now, and he still doesn't have the parts! Can anyone out there give me the part number for the Control Module so I can search for it online? Any good websites to check out for Toshiba TVs? I've looked at the FAQ and will hit the sites listed there... but I'd appreciate any suggestions. I somehow managed to find the Digital convergence IC part # 392-110 HE http://www.donberg.ie/descript/s/stk39110.htm But it's in Germany! There have been lots of problems with the cheap generics of STK392-110 from
several suppliers. Don't waste your time and money, get the Toshiba part. It is one of the cheapest from any of the manufacturers and we have had no failures of any replacement, yet. Thanks so much Alan. I really apreciate it. The tech took the two boards out
of the set, so I can't give you an exact diagnosis, but here's what I recall: Basically, on powerup, there was no picture, just the power on light (can't remember if it was steady or blinking). I guess that was the power override to prevent further damage? When he opened the back, you could really feel how there was a fried part. It was quite warm with a slight odor. He took one of the boards out, turned on the set, and we got a picture w/sound, but it was all garbled. Seems like he knew what he was talking about, but he's sorely lacking in the parts acqusition department! He quoted me $350 US to fix, am I getting taken? Not that I'm stingy, I know he's got to make a living and I certainly can't fix the thing, but those parts seemed MUCH cheaper than I thought they'd be... "Alan Harriman" wrote in message ... The Convergence IC's are likely not the parts problem
the Tech that looked at it is having a problem with. It's the Digital Control Module that is the killer in this case. If it's bad. Which can be the case but seems unlikely to me. The bad news is He may never get one. Unless he finds a junk tv of the same model with a good one he can rob. The good news is I believe PTS has started rebuilding these. Depending on the problem though. It may be a part failure that is no longer available.
