Problems with the sound of my VHS magnetoscope

Hi

I have a Sony vhs magnetoscope, wen I play some video cassette the sound
are very low, it's come back if I do fast forward or rewind wen it's still
play, it's do it more with recorded casette then one rented in a video
store.

Any hints or solutions ?

Thank

Head alignment and/or wear. I often observe that some of my old tapes
have less tracking problems if I first fast-forward them to the end in
the new machine, then rewind before playing.

I love to cook with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

Perhaps the suund/audio head is dirty. It's the usually a fixed
upright one, with a metal shield round it. Try a cleaning tape,
or an audio tape head cleaning kit if you are up to taking the
cover off. The control track head is also part of the same unit.

the fact that the fault clears up a bit after ff or rew suggests the
pinch roller may be warped and skewing the tape up or down - clean or
replace it.
