jvc SR-L900E TIME LAPSE vcr jagged verticals

Machine came in dead, no ouput from power supply, replaced c11 which
brought it back to life. Now it functions but at regular intervals
there is tearing in from the right, and especially on the verticals in
the picture. I also think the pic seems slightly darker and
colour-laden than it ought to be.
I replaced the other psu secondary caps - no effect. I have no
schematic. Any ideas? I don't feel this is a mechanical problem - tape
tension adjustments seem to have no effect.

I have repaired a few JVC s which had only half a picture and snow by
replacing the 3.3 drum motor cap -could this be another different
symptom of this infamous problem?

thanks for any tips
Ben

Try warming electrolytic capacitors up with a hair dryer until the fault
clears then locate the precise component with a tin of freezer.
JVC VCR's seem to respond very well to this method of fault finding
especially the ones with Green or Red capacitors.
Good luck John.

thanks for the suggestion John
