Pulse oxymeter probe

I need some hints about pulse oxymeter finger probes: how they work,
what kind of components are used, how can i test functionality without
the oxymeter and so on.

TIA :-)

P.S.: Better if Nellcor models

This will tell you how they work

Be careful with those probes - the Nellcor ones cost $500+ each

Thanks for the hint! :)
I know they're expensive. For this reason I would try to have a good
knowledge base to repair them. Or at least try to...

I'd like to have some more infos about the photodiodes and LEDs, about
calibration and component assembling, before opening the finger probe.

Thanks :)

In a clinical setting you don't repair the probe, you replace it -
calibration and reliability are paramount. Near enough is not good enough
when dealing with the life of a patient.
