Question about reversed-polarity in an AC outlet

Did the scanner ever work plugged into a different outlet...as I do not know of
any scanner that uses 110 but uses a transformer so there could be a chance he
has the wrong transformer for the scanner and there's where you have the wrong
polarity with the wall wart....that being DC...if he did try it in another
outlet and it worked ...did he try a different outlet on the power strip I have
seen power strip outlet go bad....

Co First of all, I'm not sure what you mean by "the good old days". DC
Co is very widely used today.

Co Secondly, AC does have a hot and a neutral. You can buy AC testers at
Co Canadian Tire. It's looks sorta like a pen with a single plastic
Co blade on the end. If you stick the blade into the hot side of a
Co receptacle, the light will turn on, but if you put it on the neutral
Co side, it will not.
Co This simple test proves that, even though there is no plus and minus
Co with AC, there is still a polarity.

All it proves is one line is referenced to ground. If you try this
with 240vac both slots will light up that type of tester.

.... :) What does that wire do? =8Q (oh!)

JM I also spent quite a bit of time squeezing train transformer secondary
JM wires convinced it would make me some sort of superman.

My guess is electroconvulsive therapy has worked wonders for you then?

He would have to have reversed the primary and secondary for that. :)
