Problem with Sony Handycam CCD-TRV57

I have a problem with my Sony Handycam CCD-TRV57. We dont use it very
often, but last time we got it out and started using it, it is having
the following problem. When you turn it on, it beeps, and the lcd
display shows a blue screen, then it "re-starts" and beeps again, but
the screen does not come back on. Every two seconds it keeps beeping
like it is trying to turn itself on repeatedly. I have tried two
different InfoLithium batteries and using the AC Adapter with the same
results every time.

Anybody have any idea what the problem could be? What is the liklyhood
that it would be the small round 3v battery that is in the little door
on the side? I'm looking for some ideas to try, since I dont want to
pay to have this fixed (as it is an older model).
Thanks for any help you can provide,

Brian

It was the 3v battery.
