Laptop screen comes on briefly and goes off
 

I have an IBM laptop whose sreen comes on briefly and goes off. It
will not come until the sreen is switched off for some time and on
again or the unit itself is switched off for sometime and started
again. Infact the backlight is working and it works fine on an
external monitor. Any help please.

The ballast supply, and or the lamp is most likely starting to fail. (Seen
this before) You will have to send the machine to an authorized service
centre to have these parts changed. I doubt very much you can buy these
parts on your own, even if you can change them yourself.
