Default ICF-2001D Manual Tuning Fault

Greetings!

My cherished ICF-2001D has developed a fault that someone on this
group might have seen before and fixed.

Turning the Manual Tuning CW increments the frequency and display
normally

0.1 kHz LW,MW,SW
50 kHz FM

However turning it ACW does not decrement the frequency and display,
rather it increments it

0.7 kHz LW,MW,SW
350 kHz FM

When holding down the Present Time Set button the Manual Tuning
increments and decrements the clock display directly.

Setting frequency via the keypad works fine.

The clock is driven by IC501 and the radio by IC502, so I think there
maybe something wrong with IC502 or the communication between IC501
and IC502.

The Rotary Encoder and its associated logic IC504, IC505 seem to work
properly.

Also all the pins on IC502 seem to be doing the right things on a
scope, although I don't really have enough servicing detail to tell.

Has anyone seen this fault before?

Does anyone have a spare working keypad/display pcb so I can do a
substitution test?

I am loath to scrap this radio, but I can't imagine that the spares
are easy to come by at this level.

TIA

Nick
