Hi, anyone have any info on this older 12V power inverter unit? I got
one with a batch of solar panels at an auction, would like to know how
to go about testing it. There is a ribbon cable connection labeled "comm
port", that would also be good to know a bit about.
TIA,

The COM port is for a remote display or to stack another unit for increased punch.
Get a car battery and jumper cables, connect DC. Expect a spark. If the unit is silent find a on/off pushbutton switch . If it ticks it is in search mode. If it hums it is ON.
Good luck
