Default Complex LCD drive

Not dot-matrix , but 4 x 5 digit 7segment plus 1x9 digit 7 segment plus
a few fixed graphic,ie not dot-matrix anunciators .
There is an uncapsulated SM decoder/driver on the glass of the LCD ,so
other than 0 and +5V for this driver and backlight lines, 5 datalines
for the data, no clock line.
Would anyone know of a representative datasheet for such a SM device or
a general term for this type of compact ribbon connection, ie not 20 or
30 line multiplexed segment and multi-backplane ribbon connection .
