I have a 35" Panasonic TV model CT-27G22V. After about ten to fifteen
minutes of viewing the TV loses its video but retains its audio.
Occasionally, and at random times, the video returns. What's left on
the black screen is a thin, bright line right in the middle of the
screen. Does anyone have an idea as to what diagnosis I ought to
expect when I obtain service? Thanks!

Michael:
Immediately STOP using the television until you get it fixed..... you can
easily burn the phosphor in the CRT and leave a permanent mark in the
picture.
This is usually not an expensive repair at most shops.... probably cracked,
cold, faulty solder connections, bad or high esr electrolytics, and maybe
faulty semiconductors and/or chips.
At the very least you should TAKE it to a repair shop for a repair cost
estimate so you can make an intelligent repair decision with facts instead
of internet or telephone wild guesses.

Panasonic - 27" TV not 35"!

Michael:
More than likely this is a fairly simple repair.... probably dry, cracked,
cold or otherwise faulty solder connections near and around the deflection
yoke connector to the main pcb or possible other not too serious
problems....
My advice in my previous post is still the same.... stop using the
television so you don't burn the tube....TAKE it to a repair shop.

Michael this is a common problem in most of the newer sets. You have a cold
or cracked solder joint around the vertical output ic. I don't have the
manual on hand at the moment but it probably uses an LA7838 IC for the
vertical. You need to examine the pins on the ic (ic451?) on the main board
for cracks and resolder .
