Toshiba TV Problems: CF30D50

Hi there,

I have a Toshiba TV model number CF30D50 (January 1995) that works
fine for the most part except for an annoying problem. On startup (and
after 30 min. or an hour of being on) the screen goes dim (90% darker
than normal) and the only way I've found to get it back to normal is
to hit the right side of the casing really hard. Not the top or the
left, but the right side as you look at the screen.

I've done a search on Google and Google Groups to no avail. I've found
people discuss problems with this TV, but nothing similar to my
problem.

Can anyone suggest what may be causing this? While not in the repair
business, I'm quite comfortable with electronics. TVs may be out of my
league, though.

Any help/idea/pointers would be appreciated.

Also check the filter caps on the G2 line, if the filter is getting flakey
is can cause the symptoms.

Toshiba TV Problems: CF30D50

Start by resoldering the pins on the connector plugs of the CRT board and
the CRT plug pins as well.

Then follow those cables from the CRT board to the main board and resolder
the plugs on the main board as well.

Resolder the flyback transformer pins and any hot/high temp areas.

By using a decent magnifying loop , you can check your work and see
potential problems
