SONY Projection

Hi all,

I'm working on a huge SONY projection TV, model RVP-6000QM.
It's really a nice machine, very impressive high power and high voltage
electronics!!
Maybe some of you know this model,
The problem is the unit will turn itself off after everything from 2 seconds
up to 1 minute of operation.
The set consists of approx 10 fans on different locations, and each fan has
3 leads.
I think the third lead is for rotation-check, outputting a pulse on each lap
or similair.
Namely, I found a fan in the power supply that won't turn on (sometimes
will, but with incorrect speed it seems)
so I guess the control logic sense this and shut down the set in order to
protect the electronics from over heating.

Inside, there's a 2 digit led-display that outputs code "01" when set is
shut down, could that mean "Fan problem"?

Any info is appreciated,

Regards
Stefan

I dont work on projection tvs much (I do LCD projectors) but if a fan is not
spinning at a specified speed then the unit will not turn on or will shut
down after a few seconds. Try replacing the fan or see if it is dirty.
