I've had a tv dropped off in the shop with a problem I've not seen before.
The on screen menu and channel indicators quit working and there's good
audio and picture but no color.

Probably corrupted eeprom data. Has the tuner ground been performed
properly to service bulletin specification, then check the eeprom data, if
corrupted replace and perform a full eeprom chassis alignment, including the
geometry, gray scale, stereo audio process, agc, tuner alignment, etc.

The "schematics" are NOT going to be of any help with this.
Check and verify that the OBT (on board tuner) ground soldering has been
done correctly and more than likely the eeprom will have to be replaced and
a full chassis and CRT alignment including the 125 channel tuner alignment
done. You will save a lot of alignment time if you have a chipper
checker??? I would guess that you probably do not, otherwise you would have
already done all of this.
This is a classic symptom for this and other similar TCE chassis numbers.
You should go to the website for this newsgroup at

There, with some searching you will find much specific information regarding
this including troubleshooting tips, repair procedures, component testing
methods, and important SAFETY information.
