Default Why does prolonged white cause green color, Mistubishi cs-2710ra

Hi,

On my Mitsubishi cs-2710ra TV, if a scene contains an area of bright
white that persists for more than about 10-15 seconds, that area of
the screen will start turning green. After the white scene goes away,
the green gradually fades.

Why does this happen, and what is the remedy for this, if any?

More likely it is a case of "doming". The intense white represents
high current electron beams which are causing the shadow mask in the
vicinity to heat, expand slightly, and distort, which is
manifesting itself as a color purity shift to green.

Just turning down the brightness a bit will probably eliminate it.

It's called doming and is when high beam current causes the shadow mask to
heat up, expand locally and distort. Turn down the brightness and contrast
to reasonable levels and it won't happen.

The effect is quite common on large screen CRT sets, it is due the
shadowmask heating up locally, ie just in the part where the white
information has been, it heats up due to the high beam current, and distorts
causing the wrong beam landing on the wrong phosphors, and showing up as a
purity error, incorrect opperation of the BCL, and the setting of the first
anode control, or simply too much contrast, can cause this effect known as
"doming" ,you could try adjusting the contrast setting to the lowest
possible without degrading the picture
