Default Nakamichi MB-4S 7 CD Player - Problem

This is a little OT but I've tried elsewhere and someone here might be
able to help.

I have a Nakamachi MB-4s 7 CD changer. I had to open it up a few weeks
ago to check the laser lens was clean.

When I reassembled it, I left the lid off the "changer" stack and on
tilting the deck, one of the metal struts fell off. I'm having problems
working out how it sits and what it does. It seems to be involved in the
disc selection process somehow. All I get now is an ERR in the LCD.

Has anyone got one, has anyone worked on one?
