Default TFT backlight

Hi there,

I have two 15" TFT screens here that need something done to their
backlight. Before I start looking at them I thought that someone out there
must have seen the same symptoms and perhaps can save me some time...?

The first one is a Compaq TFT5000 screen. On this the backlight is stuck
at full all the time.

The second one is a Samsung Syncmaster 531TFT.
This turns on the backlight normally but after about 1 sec
it goes off. Operating the power button will repeat the sequence.

Any hints?
Circuit diagrams?

Default TFT backlight

Diagrams will be unavailable from the manufactures. They will service
their products, but will not sell spare parts or service information.
The fault in the first one is either with the inverter that drives the
backlight, or a control circuit that drives it. The second one can be
the backlight, or the inverter is failing. As the story goes, in the
service departments they will try to the parts to troubleshoot them.
