Yeah, and putting a lampshade on my head can cause my eyeballs to light the
room.

I've been using laser optical discs for years now. This includes CDs, DVDs,
MiniDiscs, and those 12 inch LaserVision videodiscs. I stand as much a chance
of getting radiation poisoning from this as you successfully avoiding getting
killed by walking into a tree!
