Default Sony CRX160E Problem.

I have a sony CRX160E. When booting up after memory check, and hang at
IDE checking (can't found the CD-RW device). The CD-RW door can open
and close itself, but i done nothing. Sometime BIOS and OS can't
detect the device. Sometime it operate itself and hang, i can't open
the door or the door open itself but can't close it. If by pass the
IDE checking, OS were auto uninstall the device, or software can't
found the CD-RW, making a lot of problem in OS. I try to check/remove
the IDE1&2/power cable, problem still remain. No differ when install
the device at other PC.No driver/firmware for this device.

How are the jumpers set? Is it MASTER or SLAVE?

Is the device by itself or connected with another drive on the same IDE
controller?

If set by itself, set the jumper to MASTER.

If set with another drive, the first drive in the chain must be set as MASTER
and the second drive must be set as SLAVE.

For example, if the recorder is set to be slaved with the main hard disk drive,
you must set the hard disk as MASTER and the CD drive as SLAVE. If you have
two CD drives, one reader and one recorder, generally set the reader as MASTER
and the recorder as SLAVE.

Do not set the jumper on CABLE SELECT mode. - Reinhart
