projection tv gone dead
 

hi anybody,
i have a problem with a GE projection tv model 46GW948. the power supply
seems to be malfunctioning.
i need to know what voltages are supposed to be present on the the
output lines of the power supply board.
my wife had a neighbor come over and repair an electrical outlet and it
seems he disconnected the neutral lead from a nearby outlet and sent
220v through the tv.
plug it in and i get nothin but an ocasional clicking sound. hit the
power button, nothin.
the only fuse i could find in the chassis was OK but i checked a few
test points and they all had far less voltage than they should have.
anybody know of diagnostic proceedures for the PS board?

Not a fix for a novice to attempt, have a professional service tech come out
and diagnose the set ot take it to a Thompson service centre.

Agreed, definitely not a repair for Beavis or Butthead to attempt.

well what could go wrong? i marked the alignment of the chasis. i know
its not in the CRTs. its just electrical.

besides, its an old unit that never did work too well, so i either fix
it or chuck it.

Since repairing it is beyond your capabilities, chuck it. Donate it to a
repair shop if there is no recycling center available to you. The PTK195
chassis in your GE should last 10 more years.
