Exactly where is the arcing coming from? If it's on the bottom of the PCB it could be bad solder joints. Check for anything that could be causing a short near the flyback. If there is arcing on top of the flyback, then it could be bad or cracked. I would replace it then. LK |

G790 arcing
Its comeing from where the red wire attaches to the top of the transformer,
to somewhere under the magnets (i really don't know much about it), i looked close and i think one of the magnets is broken. "Levi Kudrna" wrote in message ... "Garth" wrote in message ... You may have two problems: (1) Excessive high voltage which caused (2) the flyback to arc. Or, it may just be a crack in the insulation as someone else noted. As a test, you can try insulating the area with several layers of electrical tape and/or non-acidic RTV Silicone sealer or HV sealer. If the monitor then works normally, a new flyback should take care of it. --- sam | Sci.Electronics.Repair FAQ Home Page: http://www.repairfaq.org/ Repair | Main Table of Contents: http://www.repairfaq.org/REPAIR/ +Lasers | Sam's Laser FAQ: http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/lasersam.htm | Mirror Site Info: http://www.repairfaq.org/REPAIR/F_mirror.html Important: The email address in this message header may no longer work.
