Service menu for Philips TV
I am trying to access the service menu for my US NTSC Philips TV (19PS50)
because the vertical alignment is screwed up (after moving house). I have tried the "062596 menu" method, but it doesn't get me anywhere. Am I doing something wrong, or is there another code? Any ideas gratefully received. I am not a particularly teccy person, and have no intention of removing the back cover. TIA |

I would have to concur with Daniel on this.
It will probably be a fault that needs to be fixed before even attempting any alignments. This chassis requires a special service remote or compair interface to get to the service codes. Good Luck, Bill Jr "Sofie" wrote in message ... Mat: Describe the "screwed up" vertical alignment........ it could be something else other than alignment. Typically moving the television, even with fairly rough handling, will not disturb the vertical alignment..... lots of other things will break first. -- Best Regards, Daniel Sofie Electronics Supply & Repair ------------------------------------ snipperoo: "Mat" wrote in message I am trying to access the service menu for my US NTSC Philips TV (19PS50) because the vertical alignment is screwed up (after moving house). There must be a hardware fault. Correcting this fault may be easy for a tech iff the service menu remains intact. If you mess with these menus, you will not only make the problem worse but have to pay a more expensive bill for the repair, or if the repair man doesn't notice someone screwed with that menu you may end up with a less functional or not so optimally aligned set once repaired. |

Thanks all of you for the replies.
The fault is simply that the bottom 5% of the picture is no longer visible. For example, the tickers running across the screen of news channels is only partially visible. Any easy fix for this? Check if when cold it's fine and clips picture when warms up...
It would be a common problem on Philips TVs using TDA3654Q for vertical deflection, it's defective and needs replacement. Mat wrote in sci.electronics.repair: Thanks all of you for the replies.
