RCA PROSCAN 1997?? Popping sound
I have a five year old proscan 27" TV, every 10-20 mins it would pop and the
picture would quickly fade out then back in untill finally one day there was a louder POP and then just a hiss could be heard (with a black screen). I can not shut the tv off and have to unplug it. Also when I plug it back in, it makes the hissing sound. Is there a possibility of repair, within a resonable $$ or would I be better off making a new purchase. |

RCA PROSCAN 1997?? Popping sound
There is always the possibility for repair, but with your limited
information no way to even hazard a guess as to the problem. Since this is a 27" size tv, it should be easy to take into the shop for estimate and repair so you can make an intelligent decision as to repair or replace. Average repair cost on these varies between $90 US and $150 US depending on the specific problem. If you simply chose to replace, please post your location so if someone here might be interested in picking up the set and remote control and keeping it out of the landfills. Consumer electronics is a serious and increasing problem for the landfills. The Red Cross up here, N.E. Indiana has a list of names of low income people who lost everything from the flooding. I know several shops that had sets fixed from the last Spring clean up that they picked up curb side that they donated to these families. David Maxwell Cameron wrote in message .. .
