Default Error Codes on Sony VCR's

I have two Sony SVT-124 time lapse VCR's that are displaying error
codes 209 and 901. The VCR's frequently stop recording and the errors
usually can be cleared by removing and then restoring power to the
devices. However, the error codes eventually reappear. Only two of
my four devices have this problem and the owner's manual do a fine job
of steering clear of explaining these error messages. Can anyone
assist me in defining these codes and how I can clear them?

Default Error Codes on Sony VCR's

Tell me about it. I have a fleet of SVT-300LC and SVT-128RA (about the same
model as your, just longer record time) and the owners menual does not
help. I have seen error 901, but don't have a clue what it is.

I am going to see if I can talk Sony into selling me a service manual.
Let you know.

Default Error Codes on Sony VCR's

My service manual came for my SVT-LC300. I would take a guess that the
same error codes are used in your SVT-124.

You may want to get to the maintenance table to check on the error codes.
I am not sure the error code that is displayed on the front is the same
as the one stored in the vcr. But anyway.

Error 209:

E02 - The take-up real does not ratate.
09 Mechanism Mode - REC.

Error 901
E09 - The mechanism becomes 7 (Initial) while moving from 1(break),
2(stop), 3(play), 4(still/slow) and to 5(recerse frame advance). (The
mechanism mode switch contact is faulty)
01 Mechanism Mode - STANDBY.

Now it's up to use to figure out what to fix.
