Default Sheboon who pleaded guilty in chopping up other sheboon has sentencereduced 10 years

http://www.greenvilleonline.com/arti...duced-10-years

Carman Jenkins, who pleaded guilty to killing and dismembering a
34-year-old woman as part of what prosecutors said was an extortion
plot, had her 50-year prison sentence reduced to 40 years.C

ircuit Judge Ned Miller issued the lesser sentence at a court hearing in
Greenville this morning.

Originally charged with capital murder, Jenkins pleaded guilty to
non-capital murder in 2012, court records show.

In a court filing, 13th Circuit Solicitor Walt Wilkins said the state
requested today’s hearing and that Jenkins’ sentence be reduced after
she pro

vided “substantial assistance” in the prosecution of another person,
court records show.

Carman Jenkins testified against her husband, Clarence Jenkins, at his
murder trial.

She said she was testifying in hopes of receiving a reduced sentence.

A jury found Clarence Jenkins of murder and he was sentenced to life in
prison.

Circuit Judge Ned Miller at today’s hearing called the circumstances
surrounding the killing “gruesome” and “inexcusable” but noted state law
allows for a sentence reduction in cases where there is substantial
cooperation with prosecutors.

Her attorney said Carman Jenkins, now 25, was “a sweet soul” but fell
under the control of her husband after they married.

In court, Carman Jenkins said she was at a“ very vulnerable” stage when
she met her husband.

She asked Miller for another chance as an adult.

“I didn’t mean for any of this to happen,” she said.

Jenkins and her husband were accused of dismembering Mekole Harris’ body
in April 2008 and sending her hands and feet to a woman who had lived
with the couple in an effort to extort $10,000 from her after she had
broken off the three-way relationship, prosecutors said.

The woman involved with Clarence and Carman Jenkins was connected to the
residences where Harris’ remains were found, but Harris had no
connection to the woman, prosecutors said.

While he didn’t testify at his four-day trial, Clarence Jenkins told
Miller before his sentencing that he didn’t kill or kidnap Harris.

Defense attorney John Mauldin told jurors Jenkins’ wife was the
mastermind behind the extortion and murder plot.

At Clarence Jenkins’ trial, a DNA expert from SLED testified tests of
blood-stained evidence at the couple’s Tindal Road trailer matched the
victim.

Prosecutors also used videotapes showing Jenkins and his wife at the
Greenville County library, where threatening notes were written, and of
Carman Jenkins carrying a bag to an apartment where Harris’ remains were
found.

Carman Jenkins in her testimony said after the victim was handcuffed to
a living room chair that her head was covered with a trash bag and she
was strangled with a cable cord.

In her testimony, Carman Jenkins described the couple’s relationship
with the other woman and how the three made a marriage pact and
exchanged vows.

She testified her husband brought Harris to the couple’s trailer and she
entered voluntarily.

But once inside, Clarence Jenkins, posing as a police officer,
handcuffed Harris to the chair, Carman Jenkins testified.

After Harris died, the couple dragged her body into a bathroom shower,
she testified.

Carman Jenkins testified they later took Harris’ body to a wooded area
off Altamont Road and set it afire.
