NEPTUNE CITY — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying an
armed robber and his accomplice who assaulted a gas station attendant
early Saturday morning.

Public Safety Director Edward D. Kirschenbaum Sr. said two men robbed
the Brighton Avenue Exxon gas station near 1:16 a.m.

The first of two suspects is described as a slender-build black male
approximately 6 foot tall, who wore a dark-colored hooded jacket and
pants, a face mask, and white gloves. Kirschenbaum said he pointed a gun
at the store attendant and demanded the money. The gun is described as
an older style black revolver, possibly a Colt 38, Kirschenbaum said.

The second suspect is described as a heavyset or muscular build black
male approximately 6 foot tall with a black mustache, wearing a black
hooded jacket; black running style pants with a white strip and no
gloves. He is said to have assaulted the second employee, a gas station
pump attendant, inside the store. In the midst of a struggle, the second
suspect’s mask fell off and store cameras were able to capture the
attached images.

Kirschenbaum said one of the men is reported to have longer hair,
possibly dreadlocks.

The employee was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center
in Neptune with minor injuries and has since been released.

Kirschenbaum said the two men made off with a change box and money from
both cash registers inside the store. They fled on foot in a
southeastern direction toward the area of the Brighton Avenue entrance
to the Brighton Arms Apartments on West Sylvania Avenue, he said.

Neptune City Lt. Matthew J. Quagliato, Sgt. James Isacson, Detective
Sgt. Keith Mitchell, Detective Hoover Cano, Patrolman Thomas Holmstedt
investigated with assistance from Wall, Neptune and Avon police departments.

Anyone with information pertaining to the robbery or with help
identifying the two men can contact Detective Sgt. Keith Mitchell or
Detective Hoover Cano at 732-775-1615.
