Problem with Samsung Blu-ray player - model BD-P1600: when switched on, stays on "LOAD", won't go to "NO DISC"

This Blu-Ray player is just over 3 years old. When switched on, the
display stays on "LOAD" instead of switching to "NO DISC".

Sometimes, unplugging the player from the mains power supply helps to
restore normal operation...until it freezes again at some later point.

Grateful for any suggestions.

If you have the ability to open up this unit. Try cleaning hte lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. It would appear that the unit realizes that a disk is present, but cannot complete the intiial loading of info from the disk. This can hapen if the lens has a film on it from smoke or grease or any other particulate matter. A word of caution: Please be careful when cleaning the lens and use as little pressure on the lens itself as possible. Very fine wires suspend the lens and are easily broken.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Dan

Thanks. In fact, I did try that this morning. I'll see how it
performs in the next day or so.

It turns out that this problem is not uncommon. There's a whole page
about it he

I've tried disabling Anynet and resetting the box. Time will tell if
it's a permanent fix.
