Default SMD top code graphics and other symbols

Other than hyphen is it only letters and numbers only for the type code?
If some extended graphics symbol then is it date code or makers code or
something other than type designation.?

Faced with 4 symbols SO23 top code of 1F*1 , in a line no spaces, where * is
like the ASCII 172 , NOT symbol , but inverted so the barb points up.
From the schematic this is a BC847B which agrees with the 1F part in a
general SMD code table.
Looking at about 100 of the SMD code pages no reference to symbols other
than hyphen

The next two characters should be Year and Month. I'd be curious how
old the other components are, and when the unit was assembled. The
Tintin hairdo you describe may refer to 2010, or some other year since
the SMD codebooks were written. Or is it possible that the character
was broken due to a problem during stamping?

++++++

Probably year 2001 from other datecodes
Definitely that grcphics symbol as described, very clear under x30 mag and
appropriate lighting. I have seen ( or ) , parenthesis symbol, on some
other SMD but probably not posistion 1,2, or3

Just to confirm , should it be marked by moveable type, it is not a 1 symbol
tipped on its side, 2 straight lines at right angles
