A former police officer accused of beating up his former girlfriend
inside the office of Sen. Paul Manglona on Capital Hill is set to change
his not guilty plea.

Victor Val Borja Hocog is scheduled to appear at the Rota Superior Court
on May 6, 2011, for a change of plea hearing.

Assistant public defender Adam Miles is serving as Hocog's counsel.

The Office of the Attorney General had charged the 36-year-old Hocog
with assault and battery, attempted kidnapping, kidnapping, assault and
battery, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Police investigation showed that on Sept. 29, 2009, on Saipan, Hocog
went inside the office of Sen. Manglona, where Hocog's ex-girlfriend
works. He allegedly locked the door and then choked and slapped the victim.

The Legislature's sergeant-at-arms broke down the door to get in. The
victim ran outside but Hocog chased her and allegedly tried to strangle her.

Hocog managed to flee before the arrival of police officers. He was
arrested later and was allegedly found in possession of €œice.€�
