The Supreme Court has been told Victor Harbor woman Bernadette Liston
was murdered in a violent and frenzied attack by her partner.

Prosecutor Lucy Boord said there was no doubt Ms Liston, 46, was
murdered but the question for the judge was by whom.

The victim was bashed, shot, stabbed and had her throat cut at her home
in 2002.

Ms Boord said the circumstantial case overwhelmingly pointed to her
girlfriend Frankie Marshall as the murderer.

She told the trial in Adelaide that bloody footprints showed the killer
knew exactly where the kitchen knife block was without seeing it and
Marshall had strong motives and no alibi.

Ms Boord said Ms Liston had been in a sexual relationship with
Marshall's brother and was planning to leave her for him.

The court heard Ms Liston and Frankie Marshall met in the mid-1990s when
their sons were getting treatment for disabilities after both had nearly
drowned in separate swimming pool accidents.

The two women started a relationship and chose to have a child with
Marshall's brother's help.
