Dell WD3000 back lighting issues
A friend of mine bought a Dell WD3000 and after about 1-1/2
year or so, got tired of dealing with the back lighting not working properly. (Having to turn the power on and off and reboot several times.) So I was gifted with it. Of course, it worked just fine with me for a while then started acting silly again. Until I got tired of the routine. I replaced both of the back light inverter boards and it seemed happy with that. (Purely coincidental I think) And now it still has the back light not coming on issues. Is there a specific breed of chicken I'm supposed to slaughter and wave over my head to fix this? There is usually a backlight on off line from the mother board to the inverter.. If the boards are marked, you can check for 2 to 5 volts on this line. If the voltage appears along with the 24v B+, you either have bad inverter boards or cranky lamps. If this voltage never appears, you can try adding a high value resistor (start with 1500 ohmsK) from the 5V line to the on off line and force the inverter on. Dell is the only brand of LCD TV i will NOT take in for service. |
