AL1916W Ab, blank screen, power indicator cycles
I intercepted an Acer AL1916W Ab on its way to e-waste at work. When
plugged in (with or without a video signal) the power indicator cycles off - orange - green repeatedly over a couple of seconds. Pried open the case (breaking half the bezel's plastic hooks, oh well) and found that the inverter/power board had these markings on the front: LF (manufacturer?) ILPI-025 Rev F 2007.2.13 E131175 and these on the back 49069140010UR barcode H790691400E00R H69E2FAK68YC 0752 I have not been able to find a circuit diagram for the ILPI-025 board on line. There is one slightly swollen cap, a green 1000uF 10V also marked with "GK(M)". The other electrolytic capacitors look OK. The smaller tantalum (?) caps are blue and completely unmarked. No burn marks or other signs of overt failure. No evident cracked solder joints. Not done yet: measure voltages (no circuit diagram, but will at least be able to see if there is high voltage and +5V at the expected places), replace the one swollen capacitor. Anybody ever repaired one of these boards, or at least know where the circuit diagram might be obtained? Thanks, David Mathog |

They are probably high voltage ceramics. No burn marks or other signs of overt failure. No evident cracked solder joints. Not done yet: measure voltages (no circuit diagram, but will at least be able to see if there is high voltage and +5V at the expected places), replace the one swollen capacitor.
