pioneer 5700s cuts out
Just picked up an older pioneer vsx5700s. It sounds fine and seems to
work but from time to time the receiver makes a click and the sound shuts off. The display on the front of the amp still moves along with the music but no sound comes out. This happens on all channels. I'm currently running a single large fisher speaker and playing music off an Ipod. Any thoughts? |

I'm currently running a single large fisher speaker and playing music off an Ipod. Any thoughts? Sounds as though the protect relay that is in series with the speaker socket feeds is dropping out. This could be for many reasons, but the commonest are bad joints in the output stages, or there's something about the speaker that you currently have glued on the end of it, that it doesn't like, such as too low impedance. First move, if you're happy that the speaker is appropriate, wired without whiskers, and is not otherwise faulty, is probably to whizz the lid off, and have a good tap around with the butt end of a screwdriver to see if you can provoke it at will. If you can, then you can narrow the search by switching to something lighter and plastic, such as a ball point pen. Arfa |
