http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts...cellphone.html Bob 2003 and earlier GM OnStar is now inoperative[non-updatable],many home burglar alarms no longer have their cellular backup. On the burglar alarm topic,I saw a TV news report last night about a wonam who had a complex ADT alarm installed,it never went off after the stalker ex-BF cut their phone line and smashed thru a patio door, and she and her BF were shot and killed before they could respond.(and the guy had a gun at hand, too.) They must have been heavy sleepers to not hear the patio door being smashed in.Her two kids fled to a neighbors, called police, and are suing ADT. Allegedly,ADT has a BAD history of failing alarms, and burglars SEEK OUT homes with the ADT sign. The alarm went off when the kids fled the house.... -- Jim Yanik jyanik at kua.net |
