UPDATE: Fixed Magnavox TV 27MS3404/17 ch L01.1U AC-7638
Hi,
In addition to replacing C2455 47/25, I replaced Q7461 BC337-25, even though it tested good out of circuit. Note: There is a sign on the pcb that it was very hot. Also, I replaced C2405 220/25. Note: The original capacitors were 85 deg. I replaced them with 105 deg versions. Now the TV stays on and Q7461 barely gets warm. Brad On Mon, 10 Dec 2007 22:14:07 GMT, in sci.electronics.repair you wrote: Hi, I have a Magnavox (Philips) TV model 27MS3404/17 ch L01.1U AC-7638 (mfg 08/04) in my shop. The TV will turn on with picture and sound, but anywhere from a few seconds to a couple minutes, the horizontal sweep shuts down, which looks like the TV turned off, but the SMPS is running "Full" and the TV on light (front panel) is lit. Note: I replaced C2455 47/25 in the horizontal driver circuit, but that didn't fix this problem. HV measures 27KV (aok). Note: I "fixed" a problem like this on a similar model several months ago by reducing the "Picture" (contrast) and Brightness that was set too high, but doing the same on this TV did not "fix" the problem. Did anyone fix a similar model with the same symptom? Thanks in advance, Brad Before you type your password, credit card number, etc., be sure there is no active keystroke logger (spyware) in your PC. |
