Buy what your economic position will avail, select from known brand names,
shy away from brands you do not recognize, select features and fuctions you
require and understand, and then enjoy.
TV has been considered a grand wasteland, IMHO, the couch potatoes tend to
vegatate on that property!

You should critically compare this TV to the same size plasma TV.

I find that LCD screens don't have as wide a viewing angle (horizontal
or vertical) as the plasma screens.

The LCD update time may also be more noticeable in the larger screens
(32 inches).

Brand recognition is virtually worthless these days. Popular well known
brand names are regularly slapped onto cheap noname junk. Look at the sets
in person, compare picture quality, also a plasma TV is one of the very few
things I suggest looking into an extended warranty for as repair cost can be
very high if they fail.

I like the latest LCD TVs very much. They have moved past the plasmas, in
my opinion. Just go to BestBuy and look at them ... they are crisp and
bright and have nice viewing angles.

Brand names don't mean much anymore. It's strange that RCA and other old
brand names are still out there since the original companies are long gone
(RCA was literally dismembered by GE). I say strange because my kids, who
spend lots more on this stuff than I do, have no idea about "RCA."

The main reason the name brand was brought up is the possibility of actually
having viable parts and service after the fact. Remember APEX?? Realizing
many of the old name brands have turned to crap, are owned by the Chinese or
whoever, and now are becoming no longer viable for support or parts. Stay
with the known products, do in-depth research, then drop the quid. Cheers

Setting up and maintaining a spares/support mechanism for products which
will by nature be several years old before they may need them is a *very*
expensive luxury. Just think about it - the number of parts the average TV
uses, stored for perhaps 5 years before they are needed - if ever. And
then become junk.
Just appreciate the low comparative costs of such things these days and
take the gamble.
