This is a long shot but if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

The original Sony part # was 150125500 superseded by part # 991099931
- no longer available.

Google "Russell Industries". They are on LI somewhere and have a line
of rod antennas.

Not for an SW radio, they have long ones with several segments, especially
if you wisht to keep it stock.

Then a CB walkie talkie whip would be closer. I haven't a clue if
they are suitable, but they are longer, and wider in diameter to
support the longer length.

The newest boomboxes have stubby antennas now, much like the antennas
found on cellphones some five or ten years ago. Old boomboxes and
cordless phones, however, did have segmented antennas.

I have a 1993 _Passport to World Band Radio_ open right now to the
page with the review of the ICF-SW7600. I am aware that the 7600 of
1993 is not the same as the radio that currently carries that
designation. The 1993 radio got a nice review, by the way.

Inasmuch as the stock antenna is no longer available, it may not be
possible for the OP to maintain the original appearance of the radio.
He may have to settle for an antenna that works, but does not exaclty
duplicate the original.

As another lister says, old handheld CB radio antennas will work, but
handheld CBs are much rarer in the trash than boomboxes and cordless
phones. In fact, I've never seen one, though I bought two at a church
rummage last summer. Old portable TV antennas would work too, but they
have dried up in the local trash stream.

Thanks for all the suggestions as to alternative antenna's, but SONY
appear to have had their antenna's made to order. Despite the
thousands of varieties out there, it seems only the original will fit.
On this radio the antenna must be pulled upwards out of the case to
allow the antenna to be swivelled. This means the base part (below the
swivel point) is special and if an alternative antenna is to be used
it is inevitable that the base part be retained and the new telescopic
part fitted to it. In order to fit into the case recess the this
limits the telescopic part to those with a female slot at the base
2.5mm wide, 6mm outer diameter and a collapsed length of 160mm.

While searching I came across Ken's Electronics
http://www.kenselectronics.com/index.html and he lists an amazing
range of telescopic antenna replacements (see Boombox & phone). Only 3
of them have female slots.
