Sony TV model KV-24FV300 strange symptoms

This set seems to do different things. Sometimes it will change
channels by itself. The volume up buttons cause the channels to change
and there is a continuous scrolling green number in the upper right
corner of the screen. The menu button does nothing. When it is not
changing channels by itself if you change a channel it will hold for
about 5 or 6 seconds and then change again. Has anyone seen this set
of problems on this model? Thanks, Lenny Stein, Barlen Electronics.

The front panel tact switches are flaky. Common problem.

Still?! It seems like years ago I hit my first nearly-brand-new KV25XBR
with a shorted channel-up switch. Are they still using those Alps
switches?
