Default Samsung TXK2750 Poor Remote Sensitivity

This set is about 6 years old, it came in with a pure white raster caused by
a blown video IC and lack of cathode supply. With those problems fixed, the
set works but has another, unusual problem; it only responds to remote
commands every few seconds. For example, push volume and the volume might go
up one notch; keep holding it and it will not adjust any further. To turn
the volume way up, you have to keep pressing Vol. repeatedly on the remote,
and not too quickly either. I tried two other remotes (one original, one
universal) and got the exact same result. I tried replacing the IR sensor
module with one from another Samsung chassis, with no change. Any ideas?
