Any help from knowledgeable people, especially those who experienced
the same problem and found a solution, would be greatly appreciated.

The PS2 plays all disc formats just fine except PURPLE dvd movies.
Every time I play one of these, the machine keeps freezing up. I tried
brand new discs so I'm sure it's not the disc that's causing the
problem. I replaced the laser with a brand new one without luck. I
tried these purple discs on other units (dvd players) and they played
just fine. What can be causing this PS2 not to read purple discs ???
Anyone who can provide a real solution must be a genius !

the 6 pin mini din keyboard and mouse connectors, and the name was quite
common before it was stolen for a cheap video game system. there is a
very good chance that you have a PS2 keyboard and mouse, unless your
computer has the USB version.


Since the original PS2 was long gone before DVD drives were available,
it is rather funny. On the other hand, if you had stated that it was a
video game, everyone would have known which system you were talking
about.

Ok, ok. This is a PLAYSTATION video game console made by Sony version
12 , i.e. the slim type. Maybe now we can get some helpful hints ?

I was just giving you a hard time.. Are you using recordable media like a
DVD-R, +R, RW? If you are it is probably an intentional malfunction so that
it cannot play pirated content or it could be that the drive is simply not
capable of reading it.

The only way I know how to distinguish between the IBM PS/2 and the Sony
PS2 is the presence or absence of the slash between the S and 2.

More often than not, that's no longer a good indicator. It would be
simpler if they didn't expect people to see what was in front of them,
and them wanting to play 20 questions.
