Toshiba 40 gig, MP3 player

Ok, I hooked my Toshiba 40 gig gigabeat, MP3 player up with the wrong
power supply. It's rated at 3 volts 2.2 amps.... the power supply he
used was 5 volts 3 amps.

Now it won't even turn on.... is it "Fried" ?.... or is it possible
that I just killed the battery not the hard drive?

You probably destroyed some components in the power conditioning
circuit on the board. They're most likely surface mount, so you
won't be able to fix it yourself. A 66% overload is pretty
hefty, and a lot of supplies put out more than their rated
voltage until they're loaded down.
