Toshiba 40 gig, MP3 player
Ok, I hooked my Toshiba 40 gig gigabeat, MP3 player up with the wrong
power supply. It's rated at 3 volts 2.2 amps.... the power supply he used was 5 volts 3 amps. Now it won't even turn on.... is it "Fried" ?.... or is it possible that I just killed the battery not the hard drive? |

You probably destroyed some components in the power conditioning
circuit on the board. They're most likely surface mount, so you won't be able to fix it yourself. A 66% overload is pretty hefty, and a lot of supplies put out more than their rated voltage until they're loaded down.
